Once again, we are participating in the ‘Barvember’ challenge throughout the whole of November.
‘Barvember’ is a national event which is organised by the White Rose Maths Hub and encourages all children to use the bar model method to support their problem solving in Maths.
As well as completing some of the ‘Barvember’ challenges in class throughout the month of November, the children also have the opportunity to participate in the optional weekly challenge. Each Friday, a worksheet containing two ‘Barvember’ challenges will be available to collect from Miss Gawthorpe on the playground at the end of the school day. There are also spare sheets displayed in the reception area. There is a postbox in reception for pupils to post their completed worksheet by the morning of the following Friday- at the latest!
All children who participate in this optional weekly challenge will receive one housepoint for each week they attempt the problems. Additionally, there will be a lucky dip prize draw each week during Celebration Assembly. We are rewarding effort, so it is definitely worth a try!
You can find the link to this week’s optional ‘Barvember’ challenge below. Please ensure it is returned to the postbox in reception by the morning of Friday 15th November.
