Welcome to the Freegrounds Junior School and our new web site where we hope you will find all the information you are looking for.
Our aim is to be a friendly community where the pupils are happy and successful, developing a life-long love of learning, building high self-esteem and the strong determination to do their very best. We work closely with the Wildern cluster of schools and in particular with Freegrounds Infant School.
Our innovative and creative curriculum is designed to engage and inspire our pupils to increase their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. We concentrate on developing sound learning skills and personal attributes such as persistence and ambition. We recognise the individuality of all our pupils and provide opportunities for them all to develop as mature and responsible young citizens.
There are three classes in each year group giving a total of twelve classes across the school. Our current number on roll is 348.
In the morning pupils are encouraged to come into their classroom from 8.45am to do some quiet reading, respond to marking or continue with independent work. A member of the Senior Team will be on the playground each morning to chat to parents and to make sure that pupils are in their classrooms by 8.55am.
At the end of the school day parents are encouraged to come onto the playground to collect their child and to chat to the class teacher.
Over the last year pupils, staff, parents, carers and governors have been working together to create our school vision statement and core values. These underpin everything that we do in school and are essential in enabling us to work together to give our children the very best learning experience during their time with us.
