Year 4 homework – 20-9-19

Your Spelling Rule

This week’s words are going to be useful to learn as they are linked to our topic ‘Round and round, up and down.’ We would expect the children to learn these words to ensure they write them correctly when using the vocabulary in lessons.

Your Spelling Words

The iron has lost its magnetic force.

A pivot is a point around which something can rotate or turn.

Linkages change the direction of motion and the amount of force.

Merge two cells together in the document.

Format the document to make it look interesting.

To help you with your spellings we would like you to make a word search using this weeks AND last week’s words. You will then bring in your word search for next Thursday, swap them over to allow someone to try your word search and you can have a go at someone else’s. If you need squared paper, please ask.

Handwriting

Please use your handwriting homework book to practise your spellings. Put the short date at the top of the page and then write each of the words above out 5 times in your neatest joined handwriting.

Times tables- TT Rockstars

In school next week you will be practising the 3 times tables. The main focus is on increasing your mental recall speed for these times tables facts.

You could also practise at home by logging on to TT Rockstars and earning coins for each times table fact you answer correctly.

Reading

You should also ensure you are reading to an adult at home at least 3 times a week and record this in your home school diary. Remember 20 reads = a house point!

Home school diaries

Please make sure home school diaries are signed each week. Home school diaries should be in school each day as they are often used to share informal messages and test results will be recorded in them each week. A reminder to make sure home school diaries are signed each week please.

Homework, Spellings and Handwriting are due: Thursday 26th September
